We’re so glad you’re here!

Since 2012, Skyline Learning Center tutors have been building identity affirming, justice seeking, equity driven, humanized spaces inside and outside of Skyline. We do this by encouraging growth mindsets, sharing vulnerability, multiplying funds of knowledge, and engaging with our communities. In 2024, Skyline Writing Center became Skyline Learning Center as the Math Mentors joined the Writing Center tutors. We have continued to grow as a Center, expanding to tutoring subjects such as science, world language, math, history, and many other subjects.

Growth Mindset

We believe that all students can learn and want to learn. We are dedicated to helping students tap into their funds of knowledge to grow in their academics.

Shared Vulnerability

We firmly believe that we all have growth areas! Everyone has something to share and we all want to learn about it. Tutors and tutees are peers that are both learning.

Funds of Knowledge

We cannot and will not fix anyone because no student is broken. Every person has passions and knowledge that other people don’t know about. We value everyone’s strengths!

Community Service

In addition to conducting more than 400 sessions per month at Skyline, tutors have celebrated literacy and writing with countless students and families across Washtenaw County. We have partnered with Eastern Michigan’s Office of Campus and Community Writing, 826michigan, YpsiWrites, and the University of Michigan’s Sweetland Center for Writing.

There are three main ways to get help from the Learning Center:

  1. Come to the Learning Center which is located at B429
  2. Have your teacher invite Learning Center tutors into the classroom
  3. Submit a piece online through the Online Learning Center

Online Writing Labs

We are dedicated to helping our peers in anyway possible. You can get help anonymously and virtually through the Online Writing Labs.

Resources for Learners

We provide many resources to students. Along with writing resources, on this website, you can find AP and math resources.
