24 pieces of advice from the Class of 24

The Class of 24 has shown resilience through a global pandemic and online learning. As we are reaching our end to high school, I interviewed 24 Seniors to offer their advice. Many have gone through adversity and have shined bright even through it.

Reva Patchava: “Be open to new experiences and friendships even if you already have a friend group”

Ava Dawson: “Do what’s best for your future self, and sometimes that isn’t what you want to do in the present moment”

Riley Bourne: “Keep a planner, such as google keep, to keep track of all your assignments”

Ajan Arora: “Treat others how you want to be treated”

Chiara Bichakjian: “Get your required classes done early”

Belzora Lovett : “Make an effort to connect with your teachers; class is more than just getting a good grade”

Liam McNulty: “Ask Questions”

Michelle McGuinty: “Wear what you want to wear and be who you want to be”

Isobel Qi: “Manage your time wisely”

Sydney Sawyer: “Cut off toxic people that you have dealt with in high school, they are not worth your energy nor your time”

Anjali Kakarla: “Take online classes for more flexibility in your schedule”

Meredith Fischer: “Make the best out of every situation and don’t be embarrassed”

Chelsea Wilkerson: “Spend time doing things you love”

Lorenzo Soto-Booker: “Don’t follow the crowd”

Shannen Lee: “Don’t be afraid to ask for help”

Aileen Bachrens: “It’s not that deep”

Will Pace: “Don’t oversleep, you will regret it immensely”

Chloe Chung: “Keep a routine and enjoy the moments of high school because it goes by really fast”

Cassie Gonzalez: “Try to live each day like it’s your last and focus on the now instead of worrying about the future”

Self reflection as well as self improvement are important to gain insight to who you are as a person and how your actions affect others. High School can be a stressful environment, and in a society that places grades and success over mental health, it can be hard to find time for yourself. While keeping up with school is important, leave time to do self care and take care of your inner knowledge and health.
