The joys of the writing process are manifold, an intricate tapestry woven with creativity and exploration. There’s an unparalleled sense of freedom in crafting worlds, characters, and narratives, each keystroke painting vivid landscapes of imagination. The thrill of seeing thoughts materialize into words on a blank page is exhilarating, akin to sculpting raw clay into a masterpiece. Revision becomes a dance of refinement, where each edit polishes the prose until it gleams with clarity and depth. And amidst the solitude of the writer’s sanctuary, there’s a profound connection forged with readers who embark on the same emotional odyssey, finding solace, inspiration, and joy within the pages crafted with care and passion.
When you read that first paragraph, did you think ChatGPT wrote it?
Maybe yes, maybe no.
Now, do not get me wrong, I am fascinated by the technology and power Artificial Intelligence holds, but at the same time, you must be extremely cautious. I have a lot of passions, but the arts definitely take the cake. The scary thing is, as time goes on, AI will only develop further and further, putting the arts at risk. This is an extremely controversial topic, but when AI has the potential to threaten breathing artists, we should be scared.
No matter your own opinions on AI, there’s one thing everyone should be able to agree on: AI writing will never beat humans.
Writers have the power to emotionally rip you apart (or build you up) with the beauty and simplicity of letters on a page. The intention behind the words make up something more powerful than anything a computer can. It could even be the same sentences, but knowing the origin changes things drastically. History behind a story or other forms of art are incomparable to anything made artificially.
In the end, nothing can beat a real human connection a writer can bring to the readers. Right now, AI lacks the emotional range needed to truly captivate an audience. Since a computer doesn’t feel emotions, it has no right to create them for others.
Next time you feel like it would be an easier solution to just copy and paste your prompt into ChatGBT instead of writing something truly original, just remember you are capable of more than any lame computer.
