Sometimes, people have the curiosity to discover more about themselves, other times, they have the desire to learn something they’re passionate about on their own.
I, personally, have experienced both. The desire to research and memorize information from different sources in order to feed into my own interests or hobbies is something that I experience a lot. Psychology and human anatomy have been an interest of mine since I was around 12-13 years old. As a result, this has fueled my own passions in classes and figuring out what I would like to do in the future.
Pursuing your passions or trying out different things can lead a lot to self discovery on what you might like and what you might need to improve on, such as patience, motivation, procrastination, or even emotional regulation.
Learning what you need to improve on can lead to working on yourself to become a better person, even if you think you are already good. Being a better person doesn’t mean that you were already bad, it can be little things as well, such as becoming happier or becoming more confident in yourself. It could also mean maybe being more extroverted, coming out of your shell or helping other people out with something they could be struggling with, being a listening ear. There are so many ways that you could be a better person, even if you’re already good.
Everyone has room for improvement, no person is ever going to be perfect, that’s what makes us human, and being human is never anything to be ashamed of, especially not when discovering who you are.
