Are you having trouble catching up with your work? Are you stressed out with all of the overdue assignments building up in Schoology? Do you need a way to start? Worry no longer! As someone who had a hard time with assignments last year, I know the struggle. Yet, due to these things, I can avoid the over pile of assignments, and I think they can work for you as well!
Make a list of what you have to do.
This can be sorted any way you think works for you. I like to sort it by class. For example, your first set of assignments is in Geometry. Start with the quick assignments. Assignments that you know you can finish quickly. Next, start with the important assignments. Mastery or things that are going to close soon. Things like that. Then, start with the assignments that are just overdue. Maybe the ones that dub, “not important.” Finally, end things off with things that could be overdue soon. Maybe just unfinished assignments, things you haven’t started yet that you were supposed to start. Sort things how you think is effective for you, though!
Ask for help.
I know that this is a scary thing to do. Asking for help is nerve-wracking and embarrassing. It’s worrying to accidentally disappoint your teacher by asking about an assignment that was due a week ago. However, you don’t necessarily need to ask just your teacher. There are other resources! Here are some examples:
The Writing Center
The WC doesn’t just help with English papers! We can help you with whatever subject you’re working on as long as it involves writing! Need help on a science paper? We can help! Stuck on a history essay? We can help? Need someone to help you organize? We can help! We’re open every hour.
The ARC
The ARC is a place for you to do your work and also get help! It takes place in the library on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. You can go in there with any type of work, and someone who works with what you have can go over to you and help you with your work!
Saturday School
Saturday school is only once per trimester. It happens usually midway to the end of the trimester. It helps you specifically with getting caught up with your work as you get closer to the work deadline. It’s kinda of like the ARC but during the weekend!
Take care of yourself.
Even if you have a lot of work you have to do and you have to get it done PRONTO, you need to be in a state where you’re able to focus! Feed yourself, keep yourself hydrated, put away all distractions, and lock in. Play music if you need to! And while you’re doing your work, be sure to reward yourself as well! Give yourself breaks. Doing work nonstop can and will burn you out, so be sure to take care of your needs in a healthy manner!
Now these aren’t all of the things you can do, for there are many different ways to catch up with your work. Find whichever way works best for you and is most effective! Getting your work done is hard, especially if you have many overdue assignments. But with time and effort, you can get the job done! Believe in yourself, and tackle those assignments! Good luck!
