High School can often be a stressful, insanely packed, and chaotic time. However, you are expected to make friends, and have fun in the little time you have until college life. During high school opportunities come about and go away quickly so taking advantage of the little extra time you have is important.
One of the most important lessons nobody teaches you in high school is the balance between school work, sports/activities, jobs, and family. From friends that have experienced the feeling of graduating, almost all of them have said to me that it is not worth it to rush through, but that you should make the most of your time and relax when it’s best.
Whether it’s academics, or sports and clubs, managing your time is important for your physical and mental health. Making sure that you are keeping time for studying, and keeping time for yourself to take a break is very important. Many students follow the path of stress, and anxiety because of the work load in a class, or the work it takes to make friends. As a senior who is graduating soon I believe that balancing school, work, and life is insanely important.
These four years fly by as freshman year feels like yesterday. My advice for any high school student would be to create a time every day to take at least 30 minutes and give it to yourself. Whether that is hanging with a pet, family, or even in your home, I promise it will make sure you can stay happy and stress free in the long run.
In the end high school is not about the grades, or the deadlines that it may have – it’s about your growth as a person, the opportunities you gain, and the experiences you go through. So make that time to go get matcha with your boys – it’s worthwhile.
